In simple terms, at a massage therapy appointment, the therapist will use either his/her hands or specially dedicated tools to steadily knead, rub, press, and manipulate muscles to stimulate circulation, but sometimes simple terms just don’t cut it. For those of you looking for a little more detail, let’s break down the appointment for you.

Here is what it looks like to get a massage at any of our Utah locations.

1. You will meet your massage therapist.

The first thing you will do is meet your massage therapist. Your highly-trained and certified massage therapist can answer any questions you might have and will explain the process to you. They are sure to take great care of you.

2. Your massage therapist will ask you where you are experiencing pain and what area you want to focus on.

It is important that you thoroughly and accurately explain where you are experiencing pain and what kind of pain it is. It is much easier for the massage therapist to relieve your pain when they have a clear understanding of it. It is also a good idea to explain to your therapist how you got the injury just in case that can allude to other injured areas you might not be aware of such as whiplash.

3. Get undressed down to your comfort level

The keyword here is comfort. If this part of the massage therapy process is holding you back, let us put your worries to rest. We want you to be comfortable and leave your appointment feeling revived and healed.

Your massage therapist is well trained in giving you the best experience possible and working as close to the muscles as possible is part of this process. In order for you to have the best experience, your massage therapist has to be able to have full access to those pained muscles without the interference of your clothes.

4. Lay face down on the table.

For most patients, the pain will be in their back or spinal area. For this reason, it is most common for patients to lay face down on the table. Unless your massage therapist suggests otherwise, it is safe to assume that your appointment will begin face down.

5. Get a massage.

During a massage therapy treatment session, the massage therapist may begin by warming up the muscles with a massage around the affected area, such as the lower back or neck.

Massaging the muscles first will increase blood circulation and relax the muscles and other soft tissues of tendons and ligaments. This is followed by the more extensive exercise of working the affected muscles by applying different pressures, movements, and techniques to alleviate the pain and promote healing.

Expect your massage therapist to work on both the affected muscles and other unexpected muscles in your body. The muscles in the bodywork intricately together. This means that when one of them gets injured, there are countless others that could be affected that you might not have felt were a problem.

What are the benefits of massage therapy?

When you get a massage, it’s important to understand what our goals for your session are, so that we can meet your needs, and help you be on the path to an extraordinary life.

Massage therapy has many benefits including:

  • Improved Blood Circulation
  • Increased Range of Motion
  • Temporary Relief of Musculoskeletal Pain
  • Muscle Flexibility
  • Overall Muscle Relaxation to Reduce Tension
  • Released Toxins

We want you to be able to experience all these benefits with each visit. Massage therapy is a great healing tool for these reasons and that’s why we offer it to you as a part of your injury recovery process.

Why get a massage combined with chiropractic care?

This is a great question. The short answer is that we want you to give you the best possible recovery process, and the ability to live an extraordinary life.

In doing that, we want to make sure that your whole body gets taken care of. In an accident, injuries can affect both your spine and your muscles which means that for a full recovery, you need special care for each degree of injury. Chronic pain can also limit your ability to feel and be your best, so we are here to help support you in your health and wellbeing.

Often, when your joints get out of place, the muscles around them can also get irritated or otherwise injured. By combining massage therapy with chiropractic care, you are receiving the best possible care for both your joints and your muscles.

Massage therapy combined with chiropractic care at or Utah locations can also help to address:
